Course Overview

This course is aimed at providing an overview of how hazard identification, risk assessment and SIL determination techniques should combine together to achieve the goal of reducing risk. The course explains a typical work-flow and outlines the inputs and expected results of each stage. Common methods such as HAZOP, risk graph, and LOPA are introduced in moderate depth; sufficient to understand the objectives and basic mechanics of each technique.
